Most often when residences are built, the core values remain in letting it grow and remain a physical entity that always progresses in time. While designing the Transcend house for a family of four, our main aim was to capture the laughs and memories of the present and freeze them in time. Building on the emotions of an NRI household where the feeling of ‘family’ is present on the counted days of a year when all of them get to be together, the project was our attempt to create a background for those days. A residence that doesn’t stand out or boast about its great design details, but a residence that is carefully planned to disappear — disappear in the childhood stories of two daughters, in the memories of the husband and wife and in the album of the years they spend in that home.

The Transcend home doesn’t change in time, it restricts time and surrounds the sand clock in one moment—the present.
